- Teach classroom guidance lessons
- Facilitate short-term small group counseling
- Provide immediate and short-term individual counseling
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff

What do School Social Workers do?
- Participate in special education assessment meetings as well as individual Educational Planning Meetings
- Work with those problems in a child's living situation that affect the child’s adjustment in school (home, school, and community)
- Prepare a social or developmental history on a child with a disability.
- Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program
What do School Psychologists do?
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students
- Provide comprehensive psychological and behavioral evaluations
- Consult with school personnel in relation to students' learning, behavior, and environments
- Strategize to provide individual and group interventions, including progress monitoring for effectiveness
- Provide trainings to staff on a variety of learning and mental health topics
- Help schools with crisis intervention planning and response
